A brief history of Inprints

Isle of Wight 1978

Hello and welcome to the brand new Inprints website. We thought we’d kick off our first blog post with a brief history of Inprints.

The business was founded by a young couple named Mac and Norma in the summer of 1976, which was the hottest summer in the UK since records began! They opened a small kiosk on the Isle of Wight, starting with a very limited range of transfers, which mostly consisted of licensed artworks of famous characters and pop stars of the day, the most popular being Elvis Presley!

After opening various kiosks and concessions in places such as the Bullring in Birmingham, and large outlets such as Allders, they finally settled in 1978 in Romford, Essex, which is where the main shop is still located to this day.

As Inprints grew over the years, the business expanded its services to include supplying uniforms and clothing for all types of schools, clubs, businesses and events, as well as one-off customised t shirt designs. We’ll be posting from time to time on how the shop has changed as the years have gone by.

Fast forward to the present day and Inprints is still going strong. Although now under different management, the ethos of offering a great, friendly and professional service is still what we are most proud of.

Feel free to have a look around our website shop at all the fantastic designs we offer, or place a bespoke order using our workwear, holiday or hen & stag pages.

We will be adding new products and blog posts frequently. If you can’t see what you’re looking for, or have any enquiries, please feel free to get in touch:

And by the way, Elvis Presley is still as popular at Inprints as he was in 1976!

Big thanks to Matt & Richard at Webwax for the build of the website, and to Averil at Pandora Images for the photography!
